A local business along with the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce presented a lunch and learn for small business owners needing help with taxes.
The lunch and learn was hosted by the Chamber and was sponsored by Central Bank of Audrain County. Central bank provided lunch. The city of Mexico helped with promoting the event that was held on Thursday, Nov. 16.
The event drew about a dozen locals who were at different stages of their careers. Some in attendance had been in business in Mexico for decades while others who attended had been in business just a few months or were still in the process of opening.
The seminar was presented by CPA Laura Cutler from Williams Keepers which is based out of Columbia but has interests in Mexico and is a member of the Chamber.
The seminar covered several topics such as tax type considerations, what type of corporation to file under, how to estimate tax payments, and accounting for things like loans and fixed assets. The Chamber and Central Bank plan on hosting more lunch and learns in the future.
