The Mexico Senior Center kicked off its Christmas for the Homebound campaign Monday, which collects household goods for the center’s homebound meal participants.
“We are asking for donations so that we can make each senior that is receiving our assistance a Christmas present,” said Ione Bickell, center administrator. “Our goal is to help ease the financial crunch during the Christmas season. We also want them to feel the spirit and generosity that is the holiday season.”
The center is collecting during November and will make deliveries the first week of December. Senior Center council members and volunteers will package items and volunteer drivers will make deliveries.
The Christmas wish list includes paper towels, toilet paper, facial tissue, cookies, candy, kitchen trash bag, bath towels, and washcloths. All donations are appreciated.
Items can be dropped off at The Mexico Senior Center, 606 East Park. Monetary donations are also welcome. For more information, call 573-581-7743.
