Coast-to-coast hoops on Gary Filbert Court

The 12th annual Gary Filbert Classic was played on Gary Filbert Court in the Mexico Sports Complex on Saturday, with the first game tipping off at 10 a.m. and the seventh and final game starting at 8:30 p.m. Area teams such as the Paris boys and girls, the Van-Far boys and girls, the Community R-6 boys and girls, the North Callaway boys and girls, and the Mexico boys and girls were on the schedule along with the Harrisburg boys and girls, the Elsberry boys  and the North Point boys.

The Van-Far girls began the day by defeating the Paris 35-26 with Carmen Wilburn being named the Player of the Game, the Van-Far boys won 59-33 against Paris with Gage Gibson being the Player of the Game, the North Callaway girls held off Community R-6 45-43 with Riley Blevins being the Player of the Game, the North Callaway boys won 69-47 against Community R-6 with Sam Pezold earning the Player of the Game off the bench, the Mexico girls lost 47-23 to Harrisburg with Harrisburg's Emma Fischer being named the Player of the Game, and the Mexico boys defeated North Point 69-38 thanks partly to Player of the Game Jordan Shelton. The Harrisburg boys defeated Elsberry 71-56 in the other game.
