David Cochrane has joined the North Callaway School District and will serve as the new middle school principal. Cochrane lands at North Callaway having served at the Mexico School District, where he spent the last four years as a high school assistant principal.

His leadership roles in Mexico, including safety team leader, student intervention team leader, and lead principal for special education, demonstrate his comprehensive understanding of school operations. He was also named the 2022-23 Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals Northeast Region Assistant Principal of the Year, a testament to his dedication and excellence in education.

“Mr. Cochrane is a dedicated school leader focusing on building quality relationships with students, staff, families, and community members,” Superintendent Kenya Thompson said, “We are excited about the energy and enthusiasm Mr. Cochrane will bring to the North Callaway Middle School.”

“I want the North Callaway Middle School to thrive and hope we build a strong foundation of academics, social development, and a sense of belonging for each Thunderbird,” said Cochrane. “Middle school is an important development point for students, and we need to set them up for success in high school and beyond.”

Cochrane holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Missouri, his education certificate from Columbia College, and his master of arts in secondary administration from Southeast Missouri State University.
