On Wednesday, the Community R-6 Trojans hosted their annual Fan Fest in the school's gymnasium.
In the event that has fallen later in the schedule in the past, both the boys' and girls' basketball teams showcased various drills since the event occurred on Day 2 of practice during the regular season.
Head coach Bob Curtis introduced the Lady Trojans along with his assistant coaches Stacey Carroz and Sadie Hoyt. The varsity and junior varsity members participated in offensive and defensive drills including 123 points, which resulted in the team breaking into two different teams to see who could reach 123 buckets first, and the black team won. The Lady Trojans then scrimmaged for eight minutes.
The boys, led by head coach Tad Shotten, also demonstrated skills developed by offensive and defensive skills. They participated in a scrimmage too.
At the end of the event, the boys and girls faced off in a three-point shootout. In the end, the boys' best, senior Gavin Allen threw 12 buckets and narrowly defeated junior Alyssa Beamer, who sank nine buckets to take this year's title.
The 2022 Fan Fest ended with an auction, which raised money for items that are placed in the students' STRIVE store.
The Trojans' cheerleaders, now coached by Charlea Schafer, led a carnival with games for families in the old gym while families dined on stuffed potatoes and nachos provided by the teaching staff and an array of desserts baked by school families.
