Area softball teams began district tournament play this past week. Centralia advanced to the Class 3 District 4 Tournament championship game at 11 a.m. Saturday in Centralia after defeating Hallsville on Thursday 4-1. Mexico and North Callaway won games to advance to the semifinals of their respective districts, Class 3 District 3 and Class 2 District 3, before each of their seasons were cut short.
Community R-6 and Van-Far each lost their first game in the first round of the Class 1 District 7 Tournament, and Paris was knocked out after one game in the Class 1 District 8 Tournament.
