The Mexico Public Schools 2025-26 school year will look almost identical to this year. At the January regular session meeting, the Board of Education approved the district’s recommended calendar for the upcoming year.
The year accounts for the state law requirements of 169 days, including 1,044 hours of instruction. Students have 41 days in the first quarter, 38 in the second, 42 in the third, and 48 in the fourth.
Highlights of the 2025-26 calendar include:
A committee of district personnel met in person and corresponded via email to discuss the upcoming school year calendar, including building representatives from the Community Teachers’ Association (CTA) and Central Office. A survey was also sent to all staff members; final survey data was shared with the staff and Board of Education. The Board did a first reading of the calendar during the December meeting. The calendar passed with a 7-0 vote at the Jan. 21 meeting.
