With heavy hearts and deep love, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Dixie Lee Hall, age 81, on June 7, 2025, at The Bluffs Nursing Home in Columbia, Missouri. Surrounded by the love and presence of her children, Dixie’s final moments were filled with peace and comfort.
Born August 3, 1943, in Callao, Missouri, Dixie was the cherished daughter of Joseph and Virginia Weber and the beloved younger sister of Ted Weber of Richmond, MO. She spent her early years in Holt and Richmond before settling in Mexico, MO, in 1960—a community where she would grow roots and raise her family.
A proud graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1961, Dixie went on to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She was bright, independent, and determined, with qualities that shaped her journey both personally and professionally.
Dixie began her career at Kentucky Finance in Mexico, starting as a secretary and rising through the ranks to become Branch Manager of the Fulton office—a role she held with distinction and pride. Known for her exceptional work ethic and dedication, she has earned numerous accolades over the years. Later, she brought her warmth and financial expertise to Bank of America in Columbia, where she worked as a personal banker until her retirement in 2009.
Outside of work, Dixie lived a life full of curiosity, connection, and joy. A lifelong reader, her home brimmed with books and cookbooks from around the world—many gifted by friends, family, and clients who knew her passion for reading and cooking. She found great happiness in travel, especially the mountains of Colorado, which she explored often with family and friends. Whether it was a lively card game, a themed dinner party, or a night in with a good book, Dixie treasured time with the people she loved.
Dixie was also an enthusiastic sports fan—she loved the Mizzou Tigers, the Olympic Games, and, most of all, any team her children or grandchildren played for. From sidelines to stadium bleachers, gymnasiums to ice rinks, Dixie was there—cheering, supporting, and celebrating her family’s every effort and accomplishment.
More than anything, Dixie was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her love for her family was unwavering, and her pride in them knew no bounds. She leaves behind her four children: Teana (Bill) Roundtree of Columbia, MO; Debby (Bruce) Bishop of Woodstock, GA; David Hall of Mexico, MO; and Daniel (Erica) Hall of Olathe, KS. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Brendan and Abby Bishop of Atlanta, GA; Jordan Roundtree of Kansas City, MO; and Madeline, Jake, and Kate Hall of Olathe, KS. Dixie beamed with pride at their accomplishments and found deep joy in being a part of their lives. She was also a proud military mom and a patriotic American.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Virginia Weber.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, from 5-6:30 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico, MO, with a funeral service to follow. A private family burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Macon, MO.
