Joseph Franklin Johnson, 87, of Mexico, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Joseph was born on December 27, 1934, in Laddonia, the son of Edward Franklin and Hattie Grace (Gramley) Johnson. On June 21, 1957, in Mexico, he married Connie Sue Vance.

Mr. Johnson was a 1952 graduate of Laddonia High School. He was in the U.S. Army, serving as a military policeman stationed in St. Louis.

Joseph had worked for A.P. Green and later for Kaiser/National, retiring after 40 plus years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Mexico and then Centralia.

Joe belonged to the amateur/HAM radio group. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and racing. He also loved football and basketball and played fast-pitch softball when he was younger.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Johnson of Mexico; son, Tony (Jennifer) Johnson of Salina, Kansas and daughter, Kelli, three grandchildren, Kyle Griggs, Haden (Keirstyn) Morris and Corey (Chloe) Johnson; and two great-grandchildren, Addison and Cameron Morris.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Johnson; and two sisters, Alice Potter and Bettie Dixon.

Memorial donations may be made to the Missouri Veterans Home, Mexico Senior Center, or Centralia Church of Christ. They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.

Private Graveside Services with military honors were in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
