Donna Sue Ervin, 78, of Columbia, passed away on Jan. 25, 2024, at University Hospital in Columbia.
Donna was born in Columbia, to Richard McMinn and Marian Croswhite on July 22, 1945. She spent her childhood in Mexico, and was a graduate of Mexico High School. She married Howard Hockman after high school, and they had two sons, Jeff Hockman and Jade Hockman. She studied Management at Metro Business College-Jefferson City. She held various jobs throughout her life, including hotel manager and nursing home manager. Her most recent position involved conducting health surveys for the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Donna was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was an avid reader. When she wasn’t reading, she loved cheering on the Chiefs, watching Mizzou football and basketball games, and spending time with her cat. She also enjoyed getting updates about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donna is preceded in death by her father, Richard McMinn; her mother, Marian Rexroat; her stepfather, Charles Rexroat; her brother, John McMinn; her brother, Jim McMinn; and her son, Jeff Hockman.
Donna is survived by her son, Jade Hockman, his wife, Kristen Hockman, and their children, Kyra, Brynna, and Cole, of Columbia; granddaughter, Trista Johnson, her husband, Brandon Johnson, and their children, Taylor Morton and Liam Johnson, of Hallsville; grandsons Max Hockman, Ethan Hockman, and Jake Hockman, of Columbia, MO; niece, Crystal McWilliams, her husband, Will McWilliams, and their children, Cohen and Charliegh, of Columbia; nephew, Chad McMinn, his wife Sarah McMinn, and their daughter, Marley, of Columbia; nephew, Jimmy McMinn, of St. Louis; and niece, Nicole McMinn, of Mexico.
A private graveside service will be held for Donna at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia.
