Eggen recognized for ‘Heart of Gold’

Posted

Alice Eggen was surprised with a presentation from Columbia College for the "Cougar Heart of Gold" recognition.

Columbia College Partners in Education committee recognized one high school junior from Mexico High School (MHS) with an engraved plaque and a Chromebook.

"Alice is the very definition of kindness and empathy,” Eggen’s faculty nomination stated. “She is incredibly hard-working. She values community engagement and takes seriously her responsibilities in the Boy Scouts, MHS Student Council and other forms of community service. She has been selected as a participant for Girls State to represent the community of Mexico. Alice perfectly matches the criteria for the Heart of Gold award."

Alice Eggen is an 11th grader at MHS.

This award celebrates students who not only excel academically but also demonstrate outstanding character, empathy, and resilience in their daily lives. It acknowledges their unwavering commitment to kindness, integrity, and making a positive impact on their school community. The "Heart of Gold Award" honors students who consistently go above and beyond, showing compassion, leadership, and a genuine dedication to helping others while maintaining a strong work ethic and achieving their academic goals.
