A challenge was accepted by first through fifth grade students at the Mexico Eugene Field Elementary to donate non-perishable food items.
During a ten-day period in February the students collected about 900 food items that weighed over 855 pounds.
The Mexico Help Center picked up the food items on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 and the items will soon be distributed to people in need in the community.
