Florence Ann Hanrahan, 72, of Topeka, Kan. died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.

Ann was born Aug. 13, 1949 in Mexico, the daughter of Hubert and Florence (Juenemann) Fennewald.

She served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was involved with working for the U.S. Government in some capacity for most of her adult life. Ann retired as the maintenance clerk for the U.S. Postal Service after more than 30 years of service. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Ann married Dennis Hanrahan; they later divorced. Survivors include two daughters, Ashley Benedict and Jayme (Nick Areanitis) Hanrahan; six siblings, Marie (Lamar) Utterback, Duke (Kim) Fennewald, Margie (Allen) Floyd, Bernard Fennewald, Frank Fennewald, and Bill (Mae) Fennewald; and two grandchildren, Austin Benedict and Brooklynn Benedict.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Florence Fennewald.

Ann will lie in state after 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m. with a parish rosary being prayed at 7:30 p.m. which will conclude the visitation.  

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Cremation will follow. Burial of her urn will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to Helping Hands Humane Society sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
