A Mexico man was arrested Wednesday afternoon for his alleged involvement in a burglary that occurred the previous night.

Jeremy A. Bell, 31, was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, stealing more than $150, and second-degree burglary, according to a news release issued by the Mexico Public Safety Department.

According to the release, MPSD responded at approximately 9:18 a.m. Wednesday to a burglary that had occurred overnight in the 600 block of Summit Street. During the investigation, officers identified Bell as the suspect. That same day, at approximately 3:45 p.m., a citizen’s tip led investigators to the intersection of Monroe and Western streets, where officers attempted to make contact with Bell. Police say Bell ran from investigators but was caught after a short foot pursuit.

Bell was processed at MPSD and taken to the Audrain County Jail.
