It’s been a couple of issues since my last update, but I wanted to keep readers abreast of some changes and improvements that will be occurring soon. Many of these changes are being made after listening to your feedback.

We are starting to see more news and photo submissions coming our way and please keep sending them. A good community newspaper belongs to you, our loyal readers, and we want to make sure we’re meeting your expectations. In addition, if you have any story ideas or photo opportunities please email our new editor, Dave Faries, at dave@mexicoledger.com.

For those of you who missed it, our Wednesday issue was the final free Wednesday issue distributed in Auxvasse and Centralia. This is being done to help reduce our distribution expense as we use the postal service for our paid subscribers. While we understand some residents may be unhappy with the change, we are offering our $60 in-county rate for a one-year subscription to all of these readers who are affected by the change. The Ledger will continue to be available at single-copy locations in both towns.

We will be offering three new comics beginning later this month that we feel will be very popular for our readers. The new comics are Beetle Bailey, Blondie and Baby Blues. Our comics will only run in the Wednesday editions due to the high expense for publishing these. However, we have added a crossword puzzle and sudoku to our Saturday edition after hearing many, many requests for this. And if you want more, our website offers a page featuring crosswords and sudoku games as an added bonus.

Hopefully by the end of the month we will debut our new Days of Yesteryear feature. This will include old stories published in The Ledger 25, 50 and 100 years ago. We’re also planning to publish old photos on this page.

The Ledger office will be relocating to a new location soon. While the current building has served The Ledger well for many years, we simply don’t need such a large space. We are on schedule to open our new office on Nov. 1. Stay tuned for more details!
