Gary Wayne O’Bryan

Gary Wayne O’Bryan, age 80, of Fulton, Mo., previously of Lentner, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Gary was born June 4, 1943, in Lentner, to Gerald Wood and Ruby Frances (Sumpter) O’Bryan. He was united in marriage to Susan Marie Lowenstein on June 12, 1982 in Mexico. She preceded him in death on July 28, 2019.

Gary is also preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Alexandra and Brayden Anderson.

He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia O’Bryan of Fulton, Deborah Gast and husband Mark of Fulton, and Angela Anderson of St. Louis, and Lynn Lynn and husband Herbert of Concordia; three grandchildren, Garrett Anderson, Holly Fannin, and Ryan Adams; one great-grandchild, Brady Arnold; three siblings, Barbara Robinson, Carol Robinson, and Judy Livingston.

Gary began working with computers after graduating from Shelbina High School in 1961. He made computing his career, working for AP Green in Mexico, and Hillyard, Inc. in St. Joseph  as Vice President of Corporate Communications and Information Services. He retired in September 2002 to their farm in Lentner and later moved to Florida. Gary moved back to Missouri in 2020 after his wife’s passing and resided in Fulton. He enjoyed playing golf, watching football, vacationing, and spending time with his wife and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 6,  from 1-3 p.m. at the Father Buhman Center in Shelbina. Memorials may be made to Electric Shock Drowning Prevention Association; 501 Darby Creek Cove Unit 54; Lexington, Ky. 40509.
