Harold David Hoover

Harold David Hoover, 78, of Macon, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Boone Hospital in Columbia.

Harold was born on July 19, 1944, the son of Henry Bartlett and Ina (Womack) Hoover. Harold was united in marriage to Lisa Gardner on June 11, 1982 in Mexico. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Macon, former President of Macon Chamber of Commerce, and former member of Mexico Jaycees. Harold started his career with Westlake Ace Hardware in 1971 in Mexico. In 1989, he was promoted to store manager of the Macon Westlake Ace Hardware, where he retired in 2007. Harold was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs and the Macon Tigers. In previous years he enjoyed playing golf, although, he would tell you he was never, “up to par.” He was a devoted family man and one of the good ones.

Harold is survived by his wife, Lisa Hoover of the home; three children, Lynn Lynn and her husband Herbert of Concordia; Lindsey Ciampanella of Clover, S.D.; and Jennifer Stultz and her husband Brett of Hallsville; six grandchildren, Ryan Adams, Holly Fannin, Emerson Benoist, Sam Benoist, Bryer Stultz and Ryker Stultz; and one great-grandchild, Brady Arnold. He is also survived by one sister, Peggy Gordon and her husband Larry of Mexico, father-in-law Victor Gardner of Mexico; brother-in-law, Lynn Gardner and his wife Sharon of Altus, Okla., and many other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; four siblings, Ed Hoover, Ruth Tate, Betty Hoover and Jay Hoover; and mother-in-law, Marilyn Gardner.

Memorial service will be at 3 p.m., Monday, May 15, 2023 at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon with Bro. Jim Bolin officiating. Visitation will be at 1 p.m., Monday, until the time of the service, at the funeral home. Family suggests memorials to the Childrens Miracle Network or Long Branch Area YMCA.
