On Wednesday, Oct. 20 the construction technology students from Hart Career Center in Mexico had the opportunity to attend a "Build My Future" event held at the fairgrounds in Jefferson City. The event hosted approximately 45 vendors and businesses.
State Tech and Ranken Colleges had representatives on site as well. Students were able to rotate through booths and engage in hands-on opportunities. Heavy equipment operators were on site to advise and demo equipment. Students were allowed to operate mini-excavators, skid steers, robotics, and welding equipment.
They were able to meet with various tradesmen, ask questions and exchange thoughts. Governor Mike Parsons attended the event, encouraging students to get involved in career technical education and graciously took "selfies" with many students.
There were approximately 900 students who attended the event from the surrounding areas and as far away as Palmyra.
