Expect fun and fireworks in the weekend forecast.

Thursday

Vandalia Area Fair

Eastern Missouri Truck Pullers LLC and Xcalibur Tractor Pull will host their annual Tractor Pull in memory of Tom Culwell at the Vandalia Fairgrounds, 1501 S. Main St. Classes include: Street Stock Gas, Small Block Gas, Hot Stock Gas, Pro Street Gas, Pro Stock Gas, True Stock Diesel, Hot Stock Diesel, Work Stock Diesel and 2.6 Smooth Bore Diesel. Registration will be 4-6 p.m., drivers meet at 6:30 p.m. and pulling starts at 7 p.m. General admission is $20, $5 for ages 4-12 and free for 3 years and younger.


Friday

Noon Lions Club Fireworks Show

Join the Mexico Optimist Club and the Noon Lions Club for their annual firework show at the ballpark. The concession stand will open at 5 p.m. and will be serving ribeye sandwiches. Fireworks begin at dark.

July 4th Celebration in Laddonia schedule:

  • Honor Flight Breakfast will be held at the Laddonia Christian Church at 4th and Chestnut Street. The menu includes biscuits and gravy, a pancake stack or scrambled eggs with a choice of bacon or sausage. Veterans eat free and a minimum $5 donation will be required for non-veterans
  • Vendors open at 8 a.m.
  • Baby and Little Mrs. and Mr. contest will start at 8:30 a.m.
  • Slow Pitch Softball starts at 9 a.m.
  • Independence Day Parade line up begins at 9:30 a.m., judging begins at 10:30 a.m. and the parade starts at 11 a.m.
  • Magic and Balloon Show featuring Grandma Granny will be from noon to 3 p.m.
  • Memorial Horseshoe Tournament in memory of Bert and Wayne Mcgrew starts at 1 p.m.
  • Kid Games and Frog and Turtle Races start at 1 p.m.
  • Washer and Cornhole Tournament starts at 3 p.m.
  • Live Music Featuring Kelly Stanford will go from 5-8 p.m.

At dusk, the Laddonia Fire Department will do the candy toss before starting the fireworks show.

Fire in the Sky
Join Columbia Parks and Recreation for the 73rd Annual Fire in the Sky at Stephens Lake Park. The free event will start at 6:30 p.m. Kids activities, live music and food trucks will be part of the celebration, capped off with a fireworks display at about 9:15 p.m. set to music simulcast on KBXR.

Salute to America
Located in downtown Jefferson City, the festival starts at 2 p.m and will feature the annual parade, car cruise, live music and entertainment from the Capitol Mainstage, a beer garden, vendors, a Kids Zone, delicious food, and, of course, fireworks.

Friday and Saturday

Ty Lue 4th of July Celebration
Two days of Independence Day celebration will be held at Tyronn Lue Park.

Friday July 4 there will be a youth glow party, DJ, and games and activities in the park.

Saturday kicks off with the Dukes and Boots Day Party/Brunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the 4-H center for ages 25 and up. Entry and meals are free until the food is gone. Saturday evening in the park there will be vendors, a DJ, the STL. Bubble Truck and free hotdogs and hamburgers. The annual fireworks show will start at dark.
