Katherine “Kitty” Flowers Seigfreid died Friday, April 25, 2025.
Kitty was born in Saint Joseph, Missouri to Cleo Jordan Flowers and Katherine Ardry Flowers. From the age of 2-11 the family lived in Omaha, Nebraska. After her father’s death, the family returned to Saint Joseph.
Kitty attended Monticello College in Alton, Illinois and graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. While at MU, she met her husband, Jerome Welling Seigfreid. They were married on August 20, 1949.
Kitty and Jerry moved to Mexico, Missouri in 1953 where Jerry practiced law. They retired to Naples, Florida in 1986.
Kitty was an avid reader, and while living in Mexico, she was a long-time member of the Wednesday Book Club. She played golf and tennis and was Chair of the Ladies Golf Association at the Mexico Country Club. She was a champion bridge player her whole life, starting as a member of the Monday Night Bridge Club that met on Thursday afternoons. She was an active community volunteer serving on many boards. She was Chairman of the United Way Campaign and Board, Board Member of the Girl Scouts, the Audrain Historical Society, and the Pink Ladies of Audrain Medical Center. She raised millions of dollars in contributions for the Presser Hall Restoration Society and Friends of the Missouri Governor’s Mansion. She chaired the YMCA during the years for the fundraising and construction of the YMCA in Mexico, for which she was awarded the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award in 1984. She was fun to be around with a great sense of humor, a good friend, a wonderful cook and gracious hostess. Kitty and Jerry traveled the world during their almost 60 years of marriage.
In Naples, Kitty and Jerry lived at Wyndemere Country Club before moving to Moorings Park Retirement Community in 2006.
Kitty is survived by her children Sally Harner (Dennis), Jay Seigfreid (Suzanne), Ann Kovar (Jim-deceased) and Paul Seigfreid (Mary); ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the Bower Chapel at Moorings Park. Inurement will be in the Moorings Park Columbarium behind Bower Chapel. Charitable contributions may be made to the Mexico YMCA, 1127 Adams, Mexico, MO 65265 or a charity of your choice.
