Larry Cortez Jackson, 76 of Mexico, passed away on Wednesday, July 19,  2023, at the University of Missouri Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Ayanna Shivers officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 31, at Southside Cemetery in Fulton.

Larry Cortez Jackson was born March 22, 1947, in Mexico.  He was the sixth of 14 children born to Herbert F. Jackson, Sr. and Beatrice(Lue) Jackson.  He married Freddie Mae (Thompson) in 1983.  She preceded him in death on May 27, 2022.

Larry graduated from Mexico Senior High School.  Following high school graduation, Larry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Lincoln University, Jefferson City in 1970.

He spent the next 30 plus years at A.P. Green Refractories in Mexico as an Accounting Manager. Larry was an exceptional golfer and also enjoyed jogging, fishing (especially with his grandkids), and spending time with his family and friends in Mexico and Fulton. Larry was also a lifelong Missouri Tiger fan. After retirement, you could find Larry on the golf course and spending time with family.

He leaves to cherish his memory: one son Marvin (Tracy) Blue of Frisco, TX; two daughters, Shelley (Tim) Jenkins of Royce City, TX and Dainta (Richard) Calhoun of Waxahachie, TX; seven grandchildren, Jordan (Melissa) Henderson (Tulsa OK), Julian Henderson (Tulsa, OK), Danielle Calhoun (Alexandria VA), Dylan Calhoun (Chicago, IL), Skye Blue (Dallas, TX), Devin Calhoun (Austin, TX), Misty Blue (Frisco, TX); five great-grandchildren, Trenton, Brianna, Xavier, Jackson, and Creed; two brothers Lowell (Jaye)Jackson (Mexico), and Ivan (Eula)Jackson (Cordova, TN); seven sisters, Elaine(Larry) Bell and Jaclyn (Richard)White (Mexico), Carol (Raymond) Williams (Peoria, IL), Alice Jackson (Mexico), Bobbette Jackson (Mexico), Maria Jackson  (Columbia), Rita Jackson (Mexico) and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Larry was preceded in death by his sister, Tereatha Richardson; three brothers, Herbert Jackson, Jr.,  Arthur Jackson and Gary Jackson.
