Community R-6 boys lose footing after first quarter in 70-32 loss to Cairo

After the first quarter, Tuesday's didn't appear it would be decided by a 20-point margin.

The Community R-6 boys trailed Central Activities Conference foe Cairo 16-11 after the first quarter but then fell behind 43-23 at halftime and eventually lost 70-32, making it the sixth straight time the Trojans lost to the Bearcats by at least 20 points.

"We had a really good first quarter both offensively and defensively," head coach Kody Asquith said. "We were able to move the ball around well and break the press and got quite a few good looks at the basket. In the second quarter, we lost our footing and started playing too fast which led to multiple turnovers. We scored 12 in the second, but that wasn't enough to match Cairo's 27 points."

Community R-6 girls can't dig out of early hole vs state-ranked Cairo
