Mexico run deluge wins North Central Missouri Conference opener at Marshall

Mexico had a good night at the plate on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs needed it in their North Central Missouri Conference opener when they won 12-0 at Marshall (1-3) in six innings. They tallied 13 hits and had six of their nine batters record a hit.

Mexico (2-3) really started to take control of the game after it scored six runs in the third inning. After the first out, Mexico had six straight betters reach base, including the first four via singles, and were assisted by three errors in the inning.

Sam Ryan went 2-for-3 with three RBI, and Jaydon Eldridge and Brady Fox each were 3-for-4 with two RBI. On the mound, Fox struck out seven in five innings along with one hit and one walk.

Mexico hosts Eldon at 5 p.m. Friday.

Community R-6 doesn't collect enought hits to lose 5-4 at Clopton

Community R-6 needed one more hit or two for a win on Tuesday.

The Trojans lost 5-4 at Clopton after finishing with three hits and after leaving the bases loaded in the sixth inning.

Community (1-1) loaded the bases in that inning following two hit batsmen and a walk. Eli Johnson, Brant Cope and Lane Carter each had a hit for the Trojans.

Cope hit a RBI double for a 4-2 Community lead in the third inning. Clopton (1-0) scored runs in its half of the third inning after bringing home a run on a wild pitch and a two RBI single by Adam Matheny. 

Peter Daskalakis and Michael Evans combined for seven strikeouts and one earned run in seven innings. Evans closed the game with four hitless and shutout innings with four strikeouts. 

Cooper Rohan struck out four and allowed two hits in three shutout innings. Drake Welch allowed five runs on three hits in 2 1/3 innings with four strikeouts.

Community hosts Marion County (2-0) at 5 p.m. tonight.

North Callaway walks Kleindienst to first head coaching win, wins 10-7 at Wright City

It was a game that approached three hours, but Kirt Kleindienst eventually earned his first career win.

The North Callaway head coach led the Thunderbirds to a 10-7 victory at Wright City (0-2) on Tuesday in the Eastern Missouri Conference opener. North Callaway walked 12 times, including three times in a decisive four-run fourth inning.

The Thunderbirds (1-2) took advantage of en error in that fourth inning and busted it wide open with a two-RBI double by Tucker Sheets, making 8-3. 

Keaton Bell allowed five earned runs in four innings but was a tough out from the leadoff spot with four runs, four walks and four stolen bases. Sheets was 3-for-3, and Kyle Pennell went 2-for-5 with three RBI.

North Callaway plays at Class 4 Hallsville at 5 p.m. tonight.

Centralia dings Bowling Green with big innings, wins 14-2

Centralia scored runs in bunches on Tuesday.

The Panthers had six-run first and eight-run third innings to defeat Bowling Green (0-2) 14-2 in five innings at home.

Each Centralia starter reached base, and seven recorded a hit. Michael Marcellus finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and a double, Micah Danielson went 3-for-3 with two RBI, and Anthony Ford and Mattie Robinson each had three RBI. 

Tuckyr Pollock allowed on unearned run on one hit in four innings.

Centralia (2-1) hosts Fayette (0-3) at 5 p.m. Friday.

Track and field

Van-Far, Community R-6, Missouri Military Academy at Van Far Open on Monday

Van-Far: For the girls, Erin Childs won the 1,600-meter run, McKenna Engh-Hoffman was second in the 100-meter hurdles, third in the long jump and third in the javelin, the 4x100 relay team was second and the 4x400 relay team was third

For the boys, DaQuan Martin won the discus and was third in the shotput, Jackson Fischer was second in the discus and Evan Utterback was second in the javelin, and Caleb Hazel was third in the 800-meter run

Community R-6: For the girls, Kylie Brooks was second in the triple jump, Adriana Woodson was third in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, Kat Meyer was third in the 400-meter dash, Alyssa Beamer was third in the 200-meter dash, Grace McCoskey was third in the 1,600-meter run and the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams were third

For the boys, the 4x400 relay team was third

Missouri Military Academy: Kyran Carter won the 200-meter dash and was second in the 100-meter dash, Ryan Miles won the 3,200-meter run and javelin and was second in the 300-meter hurdles, Alexander Nikas won the 800-meter run and second in the 3,200-meter run, the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x800 relay teams won, Alexander McBride was second in the 200-meter dash and third in the 100-meter dash, Eric Bond was second in the shotput and Jacob Pehle was third in the 3,200-meter run

North Callaway at the Montgomery County Early Invite on Tuesday

For the girls, Kymorie Myers was second in the discus, Pressley Schmauch was second in the 3,200-meter run and third in the 1,600-meter run, Alexandra Craighead was second in the 100-meter hurdles and Braelyn Kuda was third in the 100 hurdles

Ladybirds were fourth out of eight schools with 77 points

For the boys, Isiah Craighead was third in the javelin, and the 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams were third

For the girls, Mairyn Kinnaman won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter run and 4x800 relay team won, Melanie Moore was second in the triple jump, Ava Crain was second in the 800-meter run, Sophia Crusha was third in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, and the 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams were third

For the boys, Landen Chapman won the 800- and 1,600-meter run and was third in the 3,200-meter run, the 4x800 relay team was second and Cayden Poddany was third in the high jump

Mexico, Centralia at Mexico quad vs Hannibal, Louisiana on Wednesday

Mexico: Aidan Knipfel led Bulldogs with a 42, which was fifth overall. Kaden Doebelein had a 45 and Jacob Stephens had a 46. Mexico finished third with a 195

Centralia: Panthers won quad with a 172 and had the top three individual scores with Carter Moss' 37, Cullen Bennett's 40 and Travis Brooks' 41

Centralia home quad on Tuesday vs Palmyra, Fayette and Westran

Centralia finished second behind Palmyra with 173 points compared to 159 points. Carter Moss tied Palmyra's Skeeter Kroeger in the runner-up spot with a 39, which was behind the winning 38 shot by Palmyra's Jonas Janes. Cullen Bennett and Travis Brooks each followed Moss with a 44

Centralia, North Callaway at Tolton Invitational on Monday

Centralia: Cullen Bennett tied for 20th out of 86 golfers with a 13-over par and Travis Brooks tied for 34th with a 19-over par

North Callaway: Anthony Russell tied for 38th with a 21-over par

Mexico lost 9-0. Brendan McKeown and Carter Blackburn came closest to victory in doubles at 8-6, McKeown lost singles 8-5 and Boston Davolt lost singles 8-5
