Lora Elaine Seipp (nee Donnelly), 93, a resident of Annapolis, Md. died on June 4, 2023 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on April 26, 1930 in Mexico, Mo. to the late Martin Francis and Grace Ruth Henderson Donnelly, Elaine graduated from Eugene Field Elementary School, Mexico Senior High School and DePaul School of Nursing in St. Louis, where she graduated as an RN. She worked as an RN for about five years before starting to raise a family. Elaine met her future husband, LeRoy E. Seipp Jr., in St. Louis at a dance at the Soldiers Monument.

LeRoy was in the Air Force attending Parks College of Aeronautical Technology of St. Louis, where he graduated as a reciprocating airplane mechanic. They were married on September 13, 1952 at St. Matthias Church in Lanham. and they raised their children in Tracy’s Landing. Elaine attended Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in West River. She was a prolific reader of history, literature, art and poetry and had an almost total recall. Her history emphasis was British. Elaine loved visiting with her children and grandchildren, loved flowers, plants and doing puzzles on her iPad. Her son, Lee took her many times to art museums in D.C. and Baltimore, occasionally to non-art museums. She visited the National Arboretum in D.C. twice a year for decades and had numerous visits to Longwood Gardens, Pa..

Elaine is survived by her children, Susan Elaine Owen, LeRoy Edward Seipp, III, Mary Katherine Kalins, John Martin and Joseph Samuel Seipp and her sister, Marjorie Louise.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sally Anne Leapley; her former husbands, LeRoy E. Seipp, Jr. and Dick Poss and her sisters, Margaret Frances, Dorothy Jean and Charlotte Grace.

Friends are invited to celebrate Elaine’s life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, Md. on Thursday, June 8 from 6 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 101 Owensville Rd., West River, MD on Friday, June 9 at 11 am.
