A man is being held at the Audrain County Jail after an incident in Mexico last (Monday) night 10/17/2022, where he is accused of assaulting a Mexico Public Safety officer.
According to a release from Mexico Public Safety the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. on Monroe Street near Hardee's where a report of a domestic disturbance was called in.
The first arriving officer was talking with the female victim, when the other party walked away. The second arriving officer found the suspect. According to Mexico Public Safety, Brandon Green had walked away at the Donut Palace parking lot on Monroe.
During the ensuing discussion, Green tried to run away with the officer attempting to stop him. Green assaulted the officer and jumped into a car owned by a citizen who was helping the officer and left the scene.
Green then returned to his own home where he left the stolen car and drove away in his own car. Green was later arrested on I-70 by the Missouri Highway Patrol and taken to the Audrain County Jail where he was booked.
He is charged with Third Degree Domestic Assault, Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer, Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, and Resisting Arrest. The officer was treated at the scene and released.
