Why are you running and why should people vote for you?
Even though I haven't held public office before, I have been involved in the community in a variety of ways, from the Chamber of Commerce and YMCA boards to the Griffin Foundation Board and the Miss Missouri Organization. Additionally, I have been a member of the Missouri Pharmacy Association Legislative Committee and a volunteer with the Missouri YMCA Youth and Government program for more than 20 years. My family has also owned and operated at least one pharmacy in the area for the past 50 years. I have always loved American government, history and policy. Taken together, I believe I bring the experience, passion and pragmatism necessary to be a good representative for our district.
As to why I'm running, I was always told growing up that a community gives to its people. I have been extremely fortunate over the years in what our community has given to me. Now it's my turn to give back to the community where I've lived my entire life.
What are your goals if elected?
My goals are pretty simple. I want to author and support legislation that will make a difference in the day-to-day lives of the people in our district. I also want the office to be a resource that connects people with the parts of state government that can help them with whatever they may need.
What issues are most pressing for your constituency?
The most pressing issues for our district are access to healthcare and economic development. The other really important, although not exciting, issue will be the budget. This will be the first budget in many years without COVID money from the federal government, and it will also have to account for federal cuts to some key programs. Putting together a responsible, balanced state budget is going to be extremely important for our district.
