Mexico Chamber programs help employers learn

Posted
The Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce received a grant for a one year pilot project to support and strengthen member workforce.

Darlene Shopher will join the chamber team as a Workforce Specialist focused on helping train leadership teams in stabilizing and growing their workforce and by working directly with employees on the job site.

Already four major employers signed on for regular services, but Shopher will be available for other employers on an as needed basis. There is no charge for the service.

Through the program, employers and staff will learn to assess employee resources to develop specific strategies, determine language adjustments that improve employee performance, learn how to build on strengths and differences, in order to come up with plans that support business objectives.

By understanding the world in which employees operate, business leaders can stabilize the workforce and improve performance.

The chamber hosts a one day training session on July 20 necessary for those taking advantage of the program. It runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Audrain Community Hospital’s Jansen Auditorium.

The session is $20 per person to cover the cost of a workbook and lunch.

Leadership Mexico learns from hospital

Leadership Mexico focused on healthcare in June. There are so many worthy health care institutions in Mexico, this year’s rotation included visits to Noble Health Audrain Community Hospital and The Audrain County Health Department.
