Mexico Farmers Market Spotlight: Eckler Farms

Posted

You’ll find three generations hard at work at Eckler Farms and at their booth on Saturday mornings at the Mexico Farmers Market.  Matriarch, Janet Eckler, is often found in the garden harvesting crops, hunting down chicken eggs and especially baking. Some of her specialties include angel food cake, carrot cake, and a variety of cookies - even some that are gluten free. She has passed her love of cooking on to both her son, Ray, and grandson, Pearce.

Janet joined the Mexico Farmers Market over a decade and a half ago. She has seen many changes over the years all while enjoying  serving her loyal customers.  During the winter she makes many delicious Christmas candies and treats along with decorative tea towels and aprons.

Additionally, Ray Eckler has served on the Mexico Farmers Market board the last few years.

You know when the market opens, Eckler Farms’ loyal customers are beating a path to their booth to get some of the best homemade goodies and fresh produce you’ll find.  From radishes to rhubarb, eggs to eggplant, green beans to gooey butter cookies, you only leave this booth empty handed if you forgot to bring your money. It’s certainly not because there’s not enough variety.

Stop by and visit with Janet, Ray and the crew every Saturday morning.  And don’t forget to pick up some cookies.
