Residents of Mexico got a special treat last Friday, Oct. 27, when the U.S. Marine Reserve Band’s unit from New Orleans, LA visited town for two performances.
The Reserve Band only plays a select number of shows each year with Mexico being the last stop on a swing through Missouri and Kansas. The group played two shows split between the Missouri Military Academy (MMA) and Mexico High School (MHS). The band played MMA in the morning and then played an afternoon show at MHS.
Members of the public, neighboring school districts and some special guests from the Missouri Veterans’ Home attended the performances. Veterans from the home were recognized at MHS and got a loud applause. Members of the band also took time before the show to shake hands and talk with each Veteran who was in attendance.
