The Mexico girls cross country team had five runners place in the top 10 and narrowly missed capturing the North Central Missouri Conference title Saturday.
The Bulldogs had 33 points, seven behind Moberly which had its top three runners sweep the top three places.
Sidney Turlington raced to a fifth-place finish in 23 minutes, 2.57 seconds. Teammate Kalea Henneberry followed in sixth in 23:07.63. Also in the top 10 were Anna Fairchild (eighth, 23:39.64), Moenaisa Sidique (ninth, 24:11.06) and Kali Turlington (10th, 24:13.62).
Also running for Mexico were Miriam Gleeson (18th, 26:08.05) and Haley Chastain (25th, 27:35.36).
The Mexico boys team, meanwhile, finished fourth in the seven-school field with 70 points. Kirksville won the team title with 53 points.
Thomas Peuster had the fastest time for the Bulldogs, finishing eighth in 18:49. Geoffry Penn followed in 10th in 18:56.80. Other Bulldogs competing were Guy Fairchild (14th, 19:04.09), Tyler Quinlan (17th, 19:27.12), Nathan Bull (21st, 19:52.09), Race Azdell (25th, 20:12.91) and Emanuel Ramirez Rodriquez (32nd, 21:13.55).
Antonio Rivera of Moberly won the boys race in 17:30.50.
