Mexico man arrested for trafficking fentanyl following traffic stop in Mexico

A Mexico man is being held in the Audrain County Jail without bond and is facing drug related charges after an arrest on Wednesday, Mach 22, 2023.

According to the Audrain County Sheriff's Department one of their deputies conducted a vehicle stop in the 600 block of Buchanan Street in Mexico for a traffic violation around 4:47pm. During the course of the traffic stop investigation, 37-year-old Garey D. Reeves of Mexico was identified as a vehicle occupant.

The deputy reports finding Reeves to be in possession of a distribution amount of Fentanyl and United States Currency consistent with the illegal distribution of illegal controlled substances. Reeves was arrested and taken to the Audrain County Jail for felony drug trafficking in the first degree.

Formal charges by the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney and bond setting are pending.
