Mexico’s Grant Van Horn hasn’t lost a step on the mat.
The two-time state medalist and junior dominated the competition last weekend from Aug. 4-6 in Branson for the Cowboy Rumble, going 8-0 and not allowing any points scored against him, to take first in the 167-pound bracket for summer squad MO Outlaws Gold. Upcoming Bulldog freshman Carlos Juarez contributed, including a 1-0 decision victory in the 108-pound class, to MO Outlaws Black.
Van Horn’s victories included a pinfall at 26 seconds and decision victories of 11-0 and 7-0.
The Gold team finished third out of six teams while Black was in fourth.
Eighth-grader Trevor Cole managed to secure a pinfall victory and lost via a 6-4 sudden decision as part of his 3-2 weekend at 75 pounds for the 15U MO Outlaws Gold team. The Gold team was fourth out of seven teams.
