One of the owners of Diner 54 in Mexico is now a United States citizen.
Vjollca Ibraimi grew up in North Macedonia, a country in Southeast Europe. It gained independence in 1991 as one of the successor states of Yugoslavia. Vjollca first came to the U.S. on March 8th, 2010 on a green card. The green card was good for two years. Vjollca reapplied for a second green which was good for 10 years. When it came time for a third renewal, she decided to take a test and become a United States citizen.
Vjollca says "I started studying for the test in December, 2021. I took the test in St Louis this month (October) in St. Louis. I was tested on writing, reading and then four general questions about the United States. Vjollca was informed immediately that she had passed the test and received a certificate showing she is now a citizen of the United States.
Vjollca and her husband Blerim Ibraimi own the Diner 54 restaurant in Mexico which is located at 2751 South Clark Street. The restaurant is open seven days a week and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner all day.
