Mexico volleyball snapped an eight-match losing streak and earned its first sweep.
The Lady Bulldogs won in three sets (25-14, 25-10, 25-11) on Sept. 29 at home against Chamois. They then lost in five sets (15-25, 10-25, 25-20, 25-21, 11-15) on Thursday at Montgomery County to move to 4-15 and 3-2 in five-set matches this year.
Against Chamois (1-9), Charley Jackson led with 12 kills, Gwen Walker followed with eight kills and Julia Goerne had seven kills. Goerne had a team-high 14 assists, and Caroline Fisher led with five service aces.
Against Montgomery County (6-12-2), Walker led with 10 kills and Jackson had six kills. Averee Hampton led with 16 digs, Parker Howell had 15 digs, and Goerne had 14 digs and a team-high 12 assists. Mexico has five-set wins over Kirksville, Marshall and district foe Fulton and a five-set loss to district foe Bowling Green.
Mexico plays at Warrenton (4-9) at 5:15 p.m. Monday.
