The Missouri FFA Association named Ray Michaels, Mexico, an Honorary State FFA Degree recipient at the 95th Missouri FFA Convention.
Michaels currently serves as a morning show host/news director at KXEO Radio, Inc. Michaels had no high school experience with FFA but had the idea to spotlight hard-working FFA members in June 2019 while working at Country 96.
Michaels continues to assist FFA chapters in northeast and central Missouri to highlight fundraising events and projects through interviews with members and advisors. Micheals created the FFA Event of the Day feature which aired July 29th, 2019 and continues this feature in “Michaels in the Morning” that started in April 2022. According to the media relations team at the National FFA Offices in Indianapolis, they are unaware of any other radio station in the country dedicating a daily feature to FFA.
The Missouri FFA Association recognizes Honorary State FFA Degree recipients for their valuable efforts and contributions to the FFA organization and its members. Those eligible to receive the Honorary FFA Degree include farmers, school superintendents, principals, members of the board of education, chapter advisors, teachers, staff members in agricultural education, business professionals and others who are helping to advance agricultural education and the FFA.
