Michael “Mike” Ray Power, 68, of Thompson, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 30, 2022, on the family farm.

Mike was born July 17, 1954, in Mexico. He was the son of the late Charles and Betty Power of Thompson. Mike graduated from Centralia High School in 1973. He worked at AP Green Refractory for 28 ½ years.

Mike was united in marriage to Carol (Wilson) Power in Mexico on June 7, 1997. He lived on the family farm for over 63 years, where he was passionate about his animals, gardening, and helping neighbors. When Mike was not working on the farm, you could have found him at the Midwest Exchange Regional Stockyards in Mexico. Mike did not know a stranger and could be found striking up conversations with anyone.

Mike is survived by his wife, Carol Power of the home; sons, Justin Power (Sarah) of Mexico, and William Power of the home; stepdaughters, Elisa Power of Montgomery City, and Margie Power of Fulton; and stepson, David Power II (Laticia) of Mexico. In addition, Mike is survived by his mother, Betty Power of Thompson; siblings, Randall (Clarita) of Rockledge, Fla., Shelia Marquette (Charles) of Mexico, Doris Eisenhauer (the late Lindell) of Mexico, Nancy Power of Mexico, David Power I of Mexico, Phylliss Vanderhook (George) of Benton City, Patrick Power of Thompson, Laurie Perry (Dave) of Gilbert, Ariz., and Marty Power (Kristin) of Auxvasse. He is survived by five step-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and Carol’s six siblings, Billie Joe Wilson (Donna) of Fulton, Deanna Berg (Larry) of Hallsville, Melanna Miller (Russell) of Mexico, Dennis Zumsteg Jr. (Ginny) of Benton City, Jana Vogel (the late Brian) of Rhineland, and Jamie Tompkins (Kane) of Troy.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Charles Power; nephews, Thomas Power and Michael Eisenhauer; great-nephew, Camden Power; in-laws, Dennis and Carolyn Zumsteg; and brother-in-law, Jeffery Wilson.

Memorial Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, north of Centralia.

The Power family is being served by Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico.
