Rose Leighton, 80, of Columbia, MO passed away Saturday, July 1st in Centralia, MO at The Stuart House.

Visitation will be 5-7pm, Friday July 7th at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia with the Rosary being prayed at 7:15pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am, Saturday, July 8th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 903 Bernadette Drive Columbia, and burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Rose was born October 14, 1942, in Mexico, MO to Charles and Anna Shocklee Fennewald. She was a student of the final High School class to graduate from St. Brendan Catholic School in Mexico. She worked for South-Western Bell Telephone Company as an early career then was a stay-at-home mom until the late 1960’s. She worked for Central Office Equipment, Mizzou Credit Union and Hamilton Family Dentistry. She enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband, Samuel, her three children and a group of special friends.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Greg) Wade of Columbia, Lance (Caprice) Leighton of Centralia, and Jeff (Windy) Leighton of New Franklin; eleven grandchildren, Tristan Wade, Josh (Brie) Wade, Sloane Forrest, Jacob (Holly) Leighton, Ethan (fiancé Morgan) Leighton, Lexie Forrest, Garrason Leighton, Brittney (Tanner) Reddick, Jaque Leighton, Jordan (Brandon) Prentzler, and Kimmie Leighton; sisters, Joan (Ken) Settle and Jane Miller; six great-grandchildren, Jaxton & Bowen Leighton, Sammie Reddick, Hunter, Emma, & Riley Young; sister-in-law, Shirley Fennewald, many nieces and nephews, and a loving extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Fennewald, husband, Samuel J. Leighton; siblings, Dorothy (Bernard) Albus, Hubert (Florence) Fennewald, Charles Jr. (Marilyn) Fennewald, Catherine (John Carl, Sr.) Freeman, Carol (Bob) Eatock, Joseph (Jacque) Fennewald, Daniel (Ann) Fennewald, Howard Fennewald, and Martha (Ned) Dermody; and a brother-in-law, Rich Miller.
