Mizzou Athletics comes to Mexico

Posted

This week’s Rotary Club meeting featured two guest speakers, Mike Alden and Eric Morrison, deputy athletic director for external operations at Mizzou.

Alden was the athletic director at Mizzou for 17 years before retiring in 2015. He spends retirement managing a microfinancing program to support women and families in poverty in rural Vietnam. Eric Morrison gives the rotary club a comprehensive breakdown of everything happening in Mizzou athletics, particularly the Memorial Stadium improvement project and the pending “house settlement”. “We have seen schools, particularly in the Southeastern Conference, in the ‘big ten’ and the other power four conferences, they get a little momentum going with  the sport of football and they don’t follow that up with investment.” says Morrison. “We’re looking to really supersize what our progress is in football.” 250 million dollars was approved by the board for this construction project at the stadium.
