The Colonels were rude hosts when Father Tolton came visiting on Monday.
Missouri Military Academy knocked off the Trailblazers 7-2, with the Way brothers accounting for five of the set wins.
Isaac Way blanked Christopher Cameron 8-0, while Simon Way followed with a convincing 8-2 performance against Hayden Sleeth. Samuel Way dropped William Powers by the same score.
In doubles competition Isaac and Simon teamed up for an efficient demolishing of Cameron and Sleeth, 8-0. Samuel Way meanwhile teamed with Gorka Yarta to edge Powers and Landon Petri, 8-6.
MMA was without Marco Tavarez and Oscar Lopez, who fill the number three and six roles, for Monday’s match.
“Our number four through eight players had to step up and play at a higher level,” said head coach Brad Smith.
Yarte dominated his singles set 8-2. And Nathan Dempsey outlasted Father Tolton’s Anthony Alcabasa 6-3.
The only blip in the singles round came in a tight battle between Bradford Wright against the Trailblazers’ Ross Hagan in the six slot, with the visitors taking a 6-3 win.
It was 2-1 in MMA’s favor in doubles. And the loss was a back and forth game where momentum swung in Father Tolton’s favor at the end. Dempsey and Wright fell 8-5.
The Colonels are now 4-0 on the season.
