MPSD responds to house fire
On Wednesday, Nov. 1, at approximately 6:47 p.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department (MPSD) responded to the 500 block of North Missouri in reference to a fire alarm. MPSD was advised that a private alarm company was reporting smoke in the home. Responding personnel found that no one was home at the time but that there was a fire in the basement. The fire was quickly extinguished with that portion of the basement suffering some fire and heat damage. It appeared the fire was caused by careless disposal of smoking material.
