MPSD makes arrests

On Wednesday, Oct. 9 at approximately 6:43 a.m,, a Mexico Public Safety Department (MPSD) officer stopped a black van in the 1000 block of Grove Street. The van had been described as being used in a recent theft from a business. During the traffic stop one of the male occupants ran, and officers chased him through several yards for about five blocks before losing him. Around 9:08 a.m., officers located the male in a home in the 100 block of S. Mississippi. Jordan A Castillo, 21, of Mexico, was arrested without further incident. He was processed at MPSD and taken to the Audrain County Jail for stealing less than $150 and resisting arrest.

At approximately 9:07 a.m. the MPSD was in the 500 block of S. Jefferson Street in reference to a disturbance. While speaking with Rhonda J Duniphan, age 50, and Steven L Duniphan, 58, officers discovered evidence they were involved in drug sales. Further investigation led to the discovery of distribution amounts of marijuana, methamphetamine, and prescription pills. The two were processed at MPSD and eventually taken to the Audrain County Jail for distribution of controlled substance near a school. MPSD is continuing the investigation into their activities in and around Mexico with the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department and the East Central Drug Task Force.

Residents are reminded that people arrested / charged with a crime are simply accused of the crime and are to be considered innocent until / unless proven guilty in a court of law
