On Wednesday, August 30, at approximately 1:56 a.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department (MPSD) responded to the 400 block of West Monroe in reference to gunshots being fired. Responding officers contacted Jacob L Etheridge, 23, in the area. Investigation indicated Etheridge was impaired and had fired a gun out of frustration with a nearby business. Etheridge was arrested and processed at MPSD, and later taken to the Audrain County Jail for Unlawful Use of Weapon. There were no injuries from the incident. Residents are reminded that people arrested / charged with a crime are simply accused of the crime and are to be considered innocent until proven guilty.
