MU Health Care celebrated the grand opening of its South Clark Medical Building in Mexico Tuesday morning, highlighting the health system’s first clinic in Audrain County.

The South Clark Medical Building in Mexico, located at 3626 S Clark St. features the new Mizzou Urgent Care in Mexico and MU Health Care’s Family Medicine Clinic in Mexico.

MU Health Care leaders and providers joined community leaders to cut a ceremonial ribbon to symbolize the opening of the new medical building.

While speaking to those attending the event, MU Health Care physicians explained how the new services and connection to an academic health system will benefit the region.

“Our goal is to offer patients the highest-quality health care with the greatest convenience, while also being able to connect patients with more than 600 MU Health Care doctors in more than 80 specialties working together to ensure patients get the best care possible,” said Matthew Robinson, MD, chair of the MU School of Medicine’s Emergency Medicine Department and a physician at MU Health Care.

The new Mizzou Urgent Care in Mexico features MU Health Care emergency medicine providers and offers a convenient and cost-effective option for adults and children needing urgent, but not life-threatening medical care seven days a week.

Services include X-rays, lab services, breathing treatments, IV hydration and medications, and services for asthma and respiratory infections.

Mizzou Urgent Care in Mexico shares the South Clark Medical Building with MU Health Care’s Family Medicine Clinic in Mexico featuring family medicine physician Diane Jacobi, MD, and nurse practitioner Regina Hill.

“The sign on the building may say MU Health Care, but many of the clinicians and staff are the same friendly faces that have served this community for years,” Jacobi said. “I am so thankful to have a partner in MU Health Care that will allow me to continue to provide high quality care to my patients right here in Mexico.”

“The expansion of MU Health Care in Audrain County aligns with our commitment to expand access to health care access in Missouri’s rural communities including Boonville, Ashland, Fayette and Fulton, where we already have established clinics,” said James Stevermer, MD, vice chair of clinical affairs for the Department of Family and Community Medicine and a family medicine physician at MU Health Care.

Patients wishing to schedule an appointment with Jacobi or Hill should call (573) 581-1445. Mizzou Urgent Care in Mexico is open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. seven days a week to serve patients on a walk-in basis.
