The first official day for physical therapy services being offered by MU Health Care at the Mexico YMCA was Monday, Dec. 19.
The agreement between MU Health Care and the Mexico Area Family YMCA to bring physical therapy to Mexico started Nov. 7, 2022 and is a one year lease ending on Oct. 21, 2023.
"The first two patients were Mexico YMCA members," said Teresa Graff, director of therapy services operations for MU Health Care. "This is a great partnership because the physical therapy is short time work and people can become members here at the Y and continue to work to get better with access to weights and the swimming pool. MU Health Care has been looking at putting a clinic in Mexico for several years. There is a big need for physical therapy in Mexico."
Other staff at the Mexico location include Susan Quinlan, physical therapist who is full time. And Jenea Smith, physical therapist. To receive physical therapy a patient must have a physician prescription. Hours for physical therapy in Mexico are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call 573.-567-3941.
