Matthew Weber had 24 points as the North Callaway Thunderbirds offense exploded for an 81-59 road win over Elsberry Friday night.
“We came out and made some really great passes to get easy baskets,” said Callaway coach Matt Miller.
Callaway got off to a hot start, outscoring Elsberry 28-8 in the first quarter. They led 39-31 at the half.
Elsberry’s comeback efforts were answered in the second half as Callaway outscored the Indians 25-10 in the third and 42-28 in the second half for the decisive win.
Cody Cash had 19 points - 10 of which came in the first quarter - and added 10 rebounds, 8 assists, and 4 steals. Webb Langworthy had 13 points and Sam Pezold, 10.
Coach Miller credited “unselfish” play on both sides of the ball, adding that everyone contributed to the win.
Elsberry was led by Kaden Kinsler who had 23 points; Bryce Irving had 11; Dashaun Dodson, 10; and Eli Gladney, 9. Elsberry falls to 5-16 and 1-6 in Eastern Missouri (EMO) Conference play.
North Callaway improves to 10-11 and 4-2 in the EMO.
