North Callaway’s Myers selected for all-state softball

Posted

Kymorie Myers was so feared at the plate this year for North Callaway that she was intentionally walked various times.

That fear by pitchers translated to a single-season North Callaway record of 46 RBI and a first-team all-state outfielder selection in Class 2. Myers is first all-state Ladybird since Mikayla Pennell was selected as a first-team infielder in back-to-back seasons in 2019 and 2020.

Head coach Mariah McKee said it was clear how formidable a hitter Myers was this season after earning a spot on the Eastern Missouri Conference, Class 2 District 3 and all-region teams. As the No. 3 hitter, Myers had a slash line of a .442 batting average, .538 on-base percentage and .800 slugging percentage and finished with 37 runs, 19 walks, four home runs, six triples and 10 doubles — either being first or second on the team in all categories. Myers also recorded four assists from the outfield.

“Kymorie being selected for all-state is a great accomplishment,” McKee said. “The amount of great athletes in class 2 is astronomical. Anytime an athlete can be on this team is a great honor. Kymorie puts in so many extra hours outside of practice to help hone her skills. It’s always nice to get recognized for great work ethic and team success. Kymorie is never satisfied and is always striving to get better.”
