Jayci Shelton already has many accolades going into her sophomore year at Centralia.

Shelton is coming off a state championship season at 155 pounds and shined on the national stage at the weight class this summer. During the weekend of July 14 in Fargo, North Dakota, she finished as the runner-up at the 2024 U.S. Marine Corps Junior & 16U Nationals.

In her first three matches, Shelton won via first-period pinfall before winning the quarterfinals via technical fall and then in the semifinals by second-period pinfall. She defeated opponents from Texas, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Illinois and Oklahoma. Shelton did lose 8-4 to Tennessee’s Janiya Johnson in the championship match.
