The Ladybirds won the Belle tournament on Oct. 10 with a 2-0-1 record and improved their season record to 20-6-3 to surpass last year’s 18 wins. They defeated Cuba (17-8-2) in the championship match 25-23, 25-13.
Anna Shryock led North Callaway against Cuba with four kills on four attempts. Lauren Pezold had 11 assists, and Rachelle Atterberry had three aces.
In the second match against Belle (8-14-2), Peyton Boulware had three aces and recently reached 1,000 career digs the week leading up to the tournament. When North Callaway faced Bourbon (7-15-4) in the first match, Alex Craighead and Icey Tomlinson each had three kills.
The Ladybirds have the No. 4 seed in the Class 2 District 6 tournament in Hermann and will play No. 5 seed Montgomery County (9-15-3) at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 20.
