Lady Coyotes effective from line, beyond arc in 47-33 win vs Sturgeon

While both Paris and Sturgeon struggled from the field, Paris was good where it counted on Monday.

The Lady Coyotes finished 11-for-14 from the free throw line and hit eight 3-pointers to defeat Sturgeon 47-33 in its final home game of the season.

Paris (7-18, 1-7 L&C) trailed 11-8 after the first quarter before taking the 25-17 halftime lead.

Kameron Arnett hit five 3-pointers to lead the Lady Coyotes with 17 points, Reese Sutton followed with 12 points, 10 rebounds and was 6-for-8 on free throws, and Emma Ashenfelter had six points and four steals.

Ayden Wilhite led Sturgeon (6-17) with eight points and seven points, and Shelby Bailey followed with seven points and three steals.

Paris plays its regular season finale at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Brashear (9-15) before focusing on the Class 2 District 5 Tournament in Sturgeon. The Lady Coyotes are the No. 6 seed and face Clopton (12-11) at 6 p.m. Feb. 21.

Paris can’t stay within reach of Scotland County, loses 53-31

After one quarter, Paris wasn’t out of the game but had an uphill battle afterwards.

The Lady Coyotes were outscored 20-7 Friday at Lewis and Clark Conference foe Scotland County after trailing 12-11 at the end of the first quarter to eventually lose 53-31.

Scotland County (10-12, 2-6 L&C) made the most of its offensive rebounds as it outscored Paris 18-5 on second chance points.

Alyssa Webb led the Lady Coyotes (1-7 L&C) with nine points and seven rebounds, Kameron Arnett followed with eight points and two 3-pointers, Reese Sutton had eight points, and Emma Ashenfelter pulled down seven rebounds.

Abby Doster led Scotland County with 15 points and seven offensive rebounds, Kwyn Hamlin followed with 12 points and nine rebounds, and Paige Bishop had 11 points.
