Coyotes erupt in second quarter for 62-25 win at Madison
The Paris boys were active on defense and especially in the second quarter Tuesday night.
The Coyotes defeated Madison 62-25 after outscoring the Panthers 22-2 in the second quarter, taking a 35-12 halftime lead. They finished with 19 steals, 30 points off turnovers and 50 points in the paint.
Evan Smothers led Paris (7-7) with 17 points, seven steals and five assists, Cayden Poddany followed with 10 points, Colton Poddany finished with nine points and five steals, Mason Edwards also had nine points, and Alex Williams had a team-high 12 rebounds. Eight Coyotes scored before the final buzzer.
Reed Layton finished with 23 points for Madison (1-11).
Paris hosted Community R-6 on Friday prior to facing Class 2 No. 8 New Franklin (15-1) at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Sturgeon tournament.
Lady Coyotes snap losing streak with 43-13 win at Madison
The Paris girls are back in the win column.
The Lady Coyotes ended a nine-game losing streak after winning 43-13 at Madison on Tuesday. They came away with 19 steals and forced 33 Madison (1-13) turnovers.
Paris (4-11) took a 12-5 lead after the first quarter and then a 21-6 halftime lead. Madison finished 16 percent from the field compared to Paris’ 27.8 percentage.
Kameron Arnett led the Lady Coyotes with 15 points, nailing five 3-pointers, Reese Sutton followed with 13 points, six rebounds and five steals, and Kennedy Ashenfelter, Emma Ashenfelter and Sophia Crusha each had at least three steals.
Paris hosted Community R-6 on Friday night prior to facing New Franklin (11-5) at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Sturgeon tournament.
